Landmark Data Systems was founded in October of 1981, for the purpose of developing and marketing construction accounting software for microcomputers. Bill Skelton, the founder and President, left his position as Vice President of Administration at a regional general contractor to start the company.

Mr. Skelton brought with him an in-depth working knowledge of the construction industry and translated this experience into a series of programs to help contractors estimate jobs, track costs, and perform other tasks associated with construction management.

Landmark also introduced Cost Estimating, Small Tool Tracking and Shop Drawing and Material Tracking, to complete the full product line of Accounting, Estimating and Managing programs.
